An avid record collector, DJ, and drummer/percussionist, Alfonso caught the downtempo bug in 1997 when he took a gamble and picked up an album by a then unknown electronic duo called Thievery Corporation. The "Sounds of the Thievery Hi-Fi" LP was the doorway to a new world of music for him. He immediately began to research this newfound genre and collect lots of records.
In 2003, he and his friend Josh (a.k.a. DJ Jubal) started a downtempo collective called Recline Sounds. After 5 successful years of parties, mixtape compilations, and podcasts, Recline called it quits in 2008.
Alfonso now spins an eclectic repertoire of 60's and 70's Euro soundtracks, library music, global psych-funk, and of course, downtempo. He and Wax Poetics recording artist Adrian Younge currently run a monthly event in Los Angeles every first Wednesday of the month called RENDEZVOUS!
