Tripnotic began with a simple question:
In 2010 that question became the Tripnotic Downtempo Lounge, a weekly gathering created by ThirdEyeFX and DJ Audioptic. What started as a local event soon grew into a community of music lovers brought together by a shared appreciation for trip hop, downtempo, instrumental hip hop, ambient, and electronic music from around the world.
To share the experience beyond the walls of the lounge, recordings from the events eventually evolved into the Tripnotic Podcast. Released monthly, the podcast featured DJ sets, guest artists, live recordings, and music discoveries curated from across the downtempo spectrum.
“Sometimes we just wanted to steal away to a hidden, dark basement bar, listen to a little Trip-Hop, and drink from your favorite bottle until the sun comes up.”
What began as a small Los Angeles gathering unexpectedly found listeners around the world. Through the events, podcast, website, and guestbook, Tripnotic connected people who shared a passion for music that rarely had a dedicated home.
Today Tripnotic exists as an archive of those years. The weekly events have long since ended and the podcast is no longer actively produced, but the recordings remain available for anyone who wishes to revisit them.
